Project 2 Million is a campaign conceptualised by HRH Sultan of Kedah and will be under the mandate of Jemaah Dato’ Negeri Kedah (JDNK).
PROJECT HISTORY
On 1st November 2023, HRH Sultan of Kedah mooted the idea for the involvement of JDNK to champion the replanting and conservation of tree as a dynamic contribution to the preservation of Kedah’s nature and rich ecosystem.
“Ahli Jemaah Dato’ Negeri Kedah disaran untuk mempelopori ‘social innovation’ terutama dalam aspek pemuliharaan alam sekitar, pembasmian kemiskinan, memartabatkan sejarah, budaya dan warisan Kedah.”
A Council was established and chaired by Duli Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Mahkota Kedah. The Council is represented by several members of JDNK, as well as several state agencies.
Project 2 Million is a manifestation of matching ONE TREE TO EVERY PEOPLE in Kedah, over a span of 5 years.
Project 2 Million is in line with the Federal Government’s campaign of replanting 100 million trees.
OBJECTIVES
The 2 MILLION PROJECT has 5 objectives

Organise a 2.2 million tree planting activity.

Greening the urban areas.

Develop planting areas with Agro-tourism ecosystems.

Conduct environmental awareness campaigns for school students.

Produce alternative crops through research and development through IPTA/IPTS.
A total of 2.2 million trees will be planted within 6 years and we will become a more cultured community and be more aware of the importance of trees in our life.
